Your adventure begins in Kenora Ontario, located on the northern shores of the world famous Lake of the Woods. With a population of approximately 20,000 people, Kenora serves as a local and regional commercial hub, a reputation it's had since its early days as a Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trading Post. Kenora's original name was "Rat Portage", which came from a native word meaning "the portage to where the muskrat live".

The Lake of the Woods is what makes Kenora one of the largest and most popular vacation destinations in central Canada. The Kenora area is sparsely populated and contains many of Ontario's 250,000 fresh water lakes. Lake of the Woods is is the second largest inland lake in Ontario and lies deep within the Canadian Shield, a land of water, rugged wilderness and wildlife.

With over 14,000 islands and over 65,000 miles (104,000 km) of shoreline, it has been said that if dreams were islands, a person could dream of a different island on the Lake of the Woods for 39 years.
